About me
Katarzyna Krej - sculptor and glass designer, graduate of the Academy of Fine Arts in Wrocław. She received her diploma in 2004 in the studio of Professor Zbigniew Horbowy and Professor Małgorzata Dajewska.
In December 2022, inspired by transformative encounters with her mentor, Barbara Idzikowska, she decided to return to her greatest passion - art. She opened her own studio and fully dedicated herself to creating contemporary sculptures using traditional techniques.
In her work, she explores what people express through clothing and what they hide deep within their souls. Sometimes these inner experiences resemble a hidden cosmos. Her most significant distinctions include, among others, the Creative Scholarship of the Polish Minister of Culture and National Heritage in 2024, membership on the jury of the "2023 GAS Green Exhibition" organized by the Glass Art Society in Seattle (USA), and being a finalist in the Horbowy International Glass Competition (2023). Her works have been featured twice in the prestigious publication New Glass Review issued by The Corning Museum of Glass (2003, 2005).
She has participated in many important exhibitions, such as "Female Perspectives in Glass" (Continuum Gallery, Germany), "Poland's Vibrant Glass Scene" (Glass Museum Lette, Germany), "Glass and Voice" (The Venice Glass Week 2024, Italy), "GlassArt2022" (Lyon, France), "Glass is Biotiful III" (Biot, France), and "TRACE 2022" (Seattle, USA). Her sculptures are included in public and private collections in Poland and abroad, including the Shanghai Art Collection Museum in China, the Glass Museum Lette in Germany and the collection of the Barbara Achilles-Stiftung in Hamburg, Germany.
